AgeLab Researchers Attend NYC Premiere of NatGeo Documentary Featuring AGNES, Chris Hemsworth

by Adam Felts

Chris Hemsworth explores the limits of the human body, ways to gain longevity and resilience, and the realities of aging and mortality in a National Geographic documentary series titled Limitless, directed by Academy Award winner Darren Aronofsky.

In the sixth and final episode of the series, titled “Acceptance,” Mr. Hemsworth confronts old age and death, and in the process, dons the MIT AgeLab’s aging simulation suit, the Age Gain Now Empathy System, or AGNES. AGNES is used to provide designers, engineers, doctors, and other professionals to temporarily experience some of the physical limitations that come with aging. In the episode, AGNES is used to aid Mr. Hemsworth in transitioning from denying and resisting the limits of human longevity toward a state of acceptance and freedom.

To celebrate the release of Limitless and the appearance of AGNES in the series, AgeLab researchers who work with AGNES attended the world premiere of the documentary in New York City. AgeLab researcher Lauren Cerino wore AGNES during the premiere event, and AgeLab researchers met Mr. Hemsworth.

Limitless is currently streaming on Disney Plus.
