Samantha Haus, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology AgeLab & Center for Transportation Logistics.
Her current research seeks to understand the role of advanced vehicle technologies in today’s driving environment by examining how drivers use and interact with automation in a naturalistic driving setting and the interplay between automation use and risky driving behaviors. Her work utilizes advanced analytical techniques and statistical modelling to quantify, classify, and contextualize driving behaviors with the goal of informing future system designs and improving safety for all road users.
Dr. Haus received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in 2021 from Virginia Tech where her dissertation was focused on understanding vehicle-pedestrian and vehicle-bicyclist crashes and assessing the effectiveness of automatic emergency braking at preventing or mitigating these crashes. Prior to her graduate work, Dr. Haus completed a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on biomechanics from the University of Florida.
