The AgeLab sponsored the 2011 Annual Gerontological Society of America Scientific Meeting and was involved in symposia, poster sessions and exhibits throughout the four day event.
In a featured exhibit, the AwareCar was rolled into the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, where visitors were introduced to and interacted with several AgeLab projects.
AgeLab Director Joe Coughlin participated in “Health Sciences Presidential Symposium: Creating a Safe Lifestyle for Seniors: Innovations in Policy, Health Care, and Technology.”
Dr. Coughlin was also MC for the forum “Aging Means Business: Design for a New Age”, a day-long forum bringing together business, design, and aging experts to share breakthrough ideas, innovations, and market strategies for success in teh older adult consumer marketplace. Speakers included Mary Furlong, EdD, president and CEO of Mary Furlong & Associates; and Matthias Hollwich, SBA, principal of the architecture and concept design firm Hollwich Kushner and co-founder of the architectural social networking site Architizer.
He was Discussant for the gerontechnology symposium, “Connecting Older Adults with the Community: Applications of Computer Technology”, in which he discussed the challenges in introducing technology to the senior community.
He was also Discussant for the Aging & Technology panel and participated in Meet the Expert.
