AgeLab Director Joe Coughlin moderated a telematics industry round table that included AgeLab Research Scientist Bryan Reimer.
The conversation on communications technology in the vehicle included representatives from industry leaders such as Tim Nixon, executive director of infotainment and OnStar engineering for General Motors, as well as telematics executives from Ford Motor Co., BMW AG, General Motors Corp., and Hyundai Motor America.
The panelists discussed their latest advancements in communications technologies, such as Ford's Sync and Hyundai's Blue Link.
Reimer stated that his research "represents the consumer." His research in driver distraction pointed to added technologies and autonomy as challenges to consumer safety.
Audience members included ZipCar's VP of Engineering, Doug Williams as well as members of the press, MIT professors and members of the automotive industry.
