Toyota’s Collaborative Safety Research Center (CSRC) is launching 10 new research initiatives and new partnership agreements with universities and research institutions to enhance the development, testing and implementation of new automotive safety innovations across North America.
At the top of the list is the MIT AgeLab, which will commence a two-year study entitled “Demands of In-Vehicle Interfaces” exploring how the use of in-vehicle voice command systems affect driver distraction. Findings will be provided to HBTSA to help inform future research and voluntary guidelines.
