Pedro Arezes

Visiting Scholar, MIT AgeLab & MIT Portugal Program

Pedro is a Full Professor on Human Factors Engineering at the University of Minho, in Portugal. He is currently a visiting scholar at MIT and
Harvard University, in Boston, USA. At the University of Minho he coordinates the Human Engineering research group, and his research interests are in the domain of Safety, Human Factors Engineering and Ergonomics, particularly as they relate to occupational settings and products. 

Pedro is also the Director of Ergonomics Laboratory and Chair of the Steering Committee of the MSc. course of Human Engineering, at UMinho, as well as a member of the Steering Board of the PhD. programs on Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE), at UMinho, on Leaders for Technical Industries (LTI), within the MIT Portugal Program. 

Pedro has several publications in the domain of Human Factors and Ergonomics, Safety and Occupational Hygiene, being the (co)author of more than 50 papers published in international peer reviewed journals, as well as the author/editor of more than 20 books published internationally. He is also the vice-chair of the Portuguese Society for Occupational Safety and Hygiene (SPOSHO).
