Dr. Jinping Guan is a postdoctoral researcher at the MIT AgeLab. She holds a concurrent appointment as a research scientist at Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Dr. Guan holds a joint training PhD in transportation planning and management from China's Tongji University and University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. Guan's current research focuses on travel behavior and policy, the relationship between urban spatial structure and transportation, shared mobility, and various impacts of the autonomous vehicle. She has published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers and a book titled “System Development Practice of Transportation Big Data and Cloud Platform in the Period of New-Style Urbanization, Case in Shenzhen, China”. Dr. Guan is the recipient of several national awards, including: National Urban-Planning Major Social-Practice Report Competition, 2nd Prize; Graduate Student National Scholarship, Ministry of Education, PRC; Science and Technology Award, China Intelligent Transportation Systems Association; Huaxia Development Science and Technology Award, 2nd Prize, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, PRC; and Excellent Paper at the 11th Chinese ITS Conference.

Dr. Guan works extensively with leading organizations translating insights in travel behavior and decision-making into innovation in practice. Selected organizations include McKinsey, Genvict, Transform (non-profit), China Academy of Urban Planning and Design, Shanghai City Comprehensive Transportation Planning Institute, Shenzhen Urban Planning and Development Research Center, Shenzhen Urban Transport Planning Center and Bureau of Planning, and Land and Resources of Shenzhen Municipality.
