Ying Wang, postdoctoral associate at the AgeLab and New England University Transportation Center, was unanimously elected Regional Director of Western Asia for The International Traffic Medicine Association (ITMA). Wang’s contributions to the area of traffic medicine, which spans everything from the biomechanics of traffic crashes, to improvement of transportation systems to post-crash surgery, caught the eye of Dr. Leonard Evans, President Emeritus of ITMA, when she was presenting research on driving simulator validity last fall. Wang’s familiarity with China’s unique road safety issues, as well as her international perspectives on traffic medicine made her the top candidate for the vacancy. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to work with great researchers from all over the world,” said Wang of joining the board of directors at ITMA. She looks forward to the opportunity to show ITMA the work being done at the AgeLab and New England University Transportation. “Communication is very important. Showing people your research, letting them know what you want and what contributions your work will make; this will give us more opportunities.”
