Joe Coughlin presents testimony before New York City Council

Fri, 10/28/2011

AgeLab Director Joseph Coughlin was invited to present testimony today before the New York City Council. His remarks focused on the potential of applying a systems approach to healthy aging – integrating information communications technology, insights in human behavior and innovations in the delivery of public-private services to meet the needs of a new generation of older adults and their caregivers. These include rethinking the home as a platform for well-being; seamless public transportation that is more than physically accessible but attractive from the moment you leave your front door; use of community-based well-being measures to assess the effectiveness of interventions and guide future investments; and creative institutional arrangements that blend public services and private solutions to support both aging-in-place and the next generation senior center.
