Coughlin Maps a Community of the Future in The Atlantic

Tue, 10/27/2015

In a recent article for The Atlantic, AgeLab Director Joe Coughlin considers the changing patterns of retirement and relocation among Boomers, and imagines “Gerontopia,” a community of the future that meets the aging-in-place needs of older adults while still serving as a livable community appropriate for all ages. This article includes an imaginative, interactive graphic that shows what Gerontopia might look like, featuring everything from a local farmer’s market, to a drone delivery station, to an intergenerational learning center that serves as both a traditional school and an adult educational facility after hours, facilitating social interaction and community involvement for citizens of all ages.
