Coughlin to join panel on older driver well-being Wednesday, March 30 at MIT

AgeLab Director Joe Coughlin will take part in the panel for the 24th Annual Catherine N. Stratton Aging Successfully Lecture, which is entitled Driving Successfully: Giving Up the Keys? The event will focus on accommodations and alternatives for older drivers to maintain their independence, safety and mobility. New programs, policies and technologies will be highlighted.

Coughlin will bring to the panel his knowledge of the interplay between technology, health and policy in driver well-being. Other panelists include Anne Fabiny, MD, Chief of Geriatrics, Cambridge Health Alliance; Michele Ellicks, Community Outreach Coordinator, Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles, Coordinator of Elder Driver Seminars; Ann Hollis, OT and Lissa Kapust, LICSW, clinicians from the DriveWise Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. William M. Kettyle, MD, Director of MIT’s Medical Department, Internist, Geriatrician and Endocrinologist will serve as Moderator.

The event will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 4-6pm in the Wong Auditorium in The Tang Center, Building E51, 70 Memorial Drive and Wadsworth Street, Cambridge, MA.
