AgeLab Research Scientist Bobbie Seppelt gave a talk and was interviewed at the IFA Automotive Conference in Berlin, Germany, which was organized by Shift Automotive. IFA is the world's leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances. The Automotive Conference explored how new automotive technology “will change the way we think, live and drive.”
Dr. Seppelt spoke about changing attitudes of trust in and reliance of new vehicle technologies, including autonomous and semi-autonomous systems. The human driver will remain the center of the operation of the automobile for the foreseeable future. Considering the human element in the design and release of new vehicle technologies -- how they will perceive, accept, interact with, and rely on them -- is of major importance.
