AGNES Demonstrated for Harvard Geriatric Fellows

AGNES Demonstrated for Harvard Geriatric Fellows

Fri, 08/18/2017

On August 18, AgeLab researchers Samantha Brady and Dana Ellis presented the Age Gain Now Empathy System (AGNES) to a variety of medical trainees through the Harvard Medical School Multi-Campus Geriatric Medicine Fellowship. AGNES is a suit that simulates for the wearer some of the physical and functional challenges associated with aging.

The hour-long workshop, which was organized by Dr. Andrea Wershof Schwartz as part of the Harvard Geriatrics fellows' curriculum, took place at Hebrew SeniorLife in Roslindale, MA. Geriatrics Medicine Fellows along with medical residents, nurses and pharmacists tried out the pieces of AGNES, and the workshop focused on the potential of AGNES as a teaching tool to call attention to some of the specific needs of older patients, to develop greater empathy for patients and to generate ideas of how to improve health care delivery to meet their needs.
