The AgeLab's collaborative research efforts with Monotype Imaging, Inc. have been making waves in both automotive and design spaces lately!

Design Observer's Steven Heller recently interviewed Dr. Jonathan Dobres (AgeLab) and Dr. Nadine Chahine (Monotype) to learn more about how this line of research came to be, how we measure something as slippery as "legibility," and what implications the research has for the aging population and drivers in general. Lena Gregor's recent article for Propublica recaps some big changes in typographic policies, among them the AgeLab's work showing that typefaces in the vehicle can make as big a difference as those used on signs outside the vehicle. The article can be read here.
