AgeLab on Future Lab: Context Aware Car Safety

AgeLab Research Scientist Bryan Reimer discusses driver distraction on Future Lab: Context Aware Car Safety.

Reimer relates his experiences introducing new in-vehicle technologies to test subjects. Features that are leading the way towards autonomous vehicles are creating new challenges in driver well-being he says.

“Automation has a tendency to pull workload away from the driver,” says Reimer. Getting the driver to trust the technology, without trusting it so much that they pay less attention to the road, is one of the larger issues innovations in in-vehicle technologies face.
