Why Isn’t Business Preparing More for the Future of Aging?

The Milken Institute 2017 Summit on Business and the Future of Aging brought together thought and business leaders across the aging landscape, including Encore.org founder Marc Freedman, Honor CEO Seth Sternberg, and AgeLab founder and director Dr. Joseph F. Coughlin. In an article on Forbes.com, Richard Eisenberg records some insights he gleaned while attending the Summit, such as Dr. Coughlin's words on changing expectations around older age:

"'The new ‘generation gap’ is expectations. Compared to their parents, the next generation of older adults expects not simply to live longer, but to live better. This gap in innovations is the call to innovate and is the new business opportunity.' Even some of Dr. Couglin's students and Silicon Valley startups are missing that, he noted. 'I can’t tell you how many pill reminder systems I have seen from students and start-ups. The story we need to fill in is about transportation, housing and fun.'”
